February Meeting – AGM & Calligraphy
On an extremely cold February evening, we started our meeting with a welcoming hot drink accompanied by a slice of lemon drizzle or apple cake homemade by Sarah B and Shirley.
We began the meeting with the AGM and voted in our committee members for 2025. Sahra McCann stepped down from her presidency to be replaced by Sarah Darbyshire as the new president. Dawn Walsh took over as secretary and Rosie Curtis remained in her role as treasurer. We also have seven other dedicated ladies who support them to organise the smooth running of Spa Sweethearts WI.
Calligraphy
We then moved on to our calligraphy lesson, which had been postponed from our January meeting. We welcomed Susanne from Mima & Max Calligraphy to teach us the basics of how to start using the special pens provided.
A printout of the alphabet was supplied to help guide and direct us on how to write the thick upwards strokes and the thin down strokes. Susanne demonstrated the use of the pen and how to control the pressure on the strokes to gain the effect needed.
We had a great turn out of members, and everyone had a brilliant evening. Hopefully some of our ladies will embrace this skill and use it in the future.
Next Meeting
Our March meeting is on Thursday 13th and we will be line dancing, so dust off your cowboy boots and Stetsons and come and enjoy the hoe-down. You don’t have to join in the dancing, you are very welcome to come and be an observer and tap your feet to the music. I’ve no doubt it’s going to be a fun evening, so join us and dance the night away.
