Sarah joined Spa Sweethearts in 2013, after moving north from her native London. She was looking for somewhere with like-minded people and opportunities to try new things, and Spa Sweethearts hit the spot. Within months of joining Spa Sweethearts, Sarah had joined the Committee, first as Programme Co-ordinator and then Vice-President and Secretary. She stepped down in 2018 to focus on other things, but has now decided it’s time to re-join the Committee. This year she will take on the role of Secretary, looking after our correspondence and keeping records of meetings.
‘’Spa Sweethearts has really made Harrogate feel like home. I’ve made some wonderful friends, and had the opportunity to try so many new activities. I’ve been to Buckingham Palace, slept under the stars, learnt new skills and pushed myself to try things I would never have contemplated. And along the way there has been an awful lot of fun and laughter (and a lot of cheese and wine J ). I feel very lucky to be a Spa Sweetheart and I’m delighted to be back on the Committee.’’
Away from Spa Sweethearts, Sarah is mum to Jack (who also enjoyed his fair share of monthly, sub-group and Committee meetings when he was very small!) and has a career as an academic in clinical and applied health research. She is passionate about gender equality within higher education and research, and supporting the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM). She also loves gardening, reading, theatre trips, and baking, and wishes she could find enough time to finish all the many craft projects she has started in her years as a Spa Sweetheart!
