June Meeting – Harrogate Ghost Walk

On a gloomy Thursday evening in June, the Spa Sweethearts gathered in Harrogate for a delightfully spooky encounter with Paul from Harrogate Ghost Tours. Dressed impressively in a top hat and flowing cloak, Paul quickly reassured us that he was not a ghost himself—although some of us weren’t entirely convinced!

As shadows lengthened outside, we were treated to tales of mysterious sightings and supernatural happenings around Harrogate. From the eerie sightings in the Pump Room and the whispering pathways (and toilets) of Valley Gardens to the haunted changing rooms of the Turkish Baths, spooky Crown Hotel, and Old Swan Hotel, every story sent a shiver down our spines.

Alongside the ghostly goings-on, we also uncovered fascinating snippets of Harrogate’s history, including the important role its hotels played during wartime. The evening was packed with intrigue, laughter, local history, and just enough chills to make us glance over our shoulders on the way home.

A hauntingly good time was had by all!

A number of the group then adjourned to the Barking George afterwards for refreshments.
